What’s on Tanner Adell’s Shelf?

After months on the road, the country artist is leaning into 'The Great British Baking Show,' vintage vinyl, and a little simulated farming.

When we meet Tanner Adell over Zoom, she’s deep into a Dead to Me binge, candles burning nearby and a pile of baking cookbooks within reach. After a stint of shows as part of her Giddy Up, Gorgeous tour, the country singer-songwriter and “BLACKBIIRD” collaborator tells ShelfMAG she’s learning to slow down.

That less hectic pace has synced perfectly with her newest collaboration, a nostalgic campaign with OLIPOP that taps into her childhood love of cream soda, which she and her dad “would fill the fridge with whenever my mom was out of town,” she says. “It was our little secret.”

Elsewhere, she’s rediscovering more old comforts and new obsessions — here’s what’s on her Shelf.

“I started watching it right after the tour and literally couldn’t stop. I think I’m on Season 3 now. I’m obsessed, it’s creepy and emotional in all the right ways. I totally identify with Judy. She’s anxious, weird, way too empathetic — basically me. It’s comforting to see someone so messy and lovable on TV.”

“I love baking, so that show is my form of therapy. Even when people lose, they’re smiling and hugging each other, it’s just wholesome. American cooking shows are so intense, like they want you to have a breakdown. GBBS is peaceful. Also, Paul Hollywood? Daddy. The way he handles bread? I wish he’d look at me like that.”

On Tango in the Night by Fleetwood Mac:

“I’ve been searching everywhere for an original vinyl copy. It’s my dad’s favorite record, and it feels nostalgic in a way I didn’t expect. That late-’70s, early-’80s transition — disco into pop, a little chaos, a lot of feeling, it’s just perfect. You can hear how wild their creative process was.”

“When I’m not writing or recording, I play Stardew Valley. I’ll just collect things in the mines for hours and completely zone out. It’s such a cozy escape from social media and touring. Sometimes my friends join my farm and we role-play, which sounds ridiculous, but it’s actually the most relaxing thing ever.”

“I rewatched it after Diane Keaton passed, and I forgot how much I love that movie. It’s warm, romantic, funny — like a love letter to solitude. I have such a soft spot for old-lady comfort films. The Hamptons house, the soundtrack, Keanu Reeves as a young doctor — it’s everything.”

“I grew up in Utah, where soda is practically a religion. I used to drink these massive Dr. Peppers, but now OLIPOP has replaced all that. The pineapple flavor was a SpongeBob collab, which is funny because I wasn’t allowed to watch Nickelodeon as a kid. So now I’m 25, drinking pineapple soda, watching SpongeBob, and healing my inner child. They should absolutely make it a permanent flavor.”
