Virgins Unite: Our Lorde Album Listening Party

Shelf ON THE TOWN

On Friday night, Shelf gathered New York’s most devoted Lorde fans (and a few very online influencers) for an intimate, irreverent celebration of the pop star’s fourth studio album, Virgin.

The night kicked off with a Lorde-themed quiz designed to answer the age-old question: Which Lorde song are you most like? Guests sat in cozy corners of the space, passionately debating whether they embodied “Liability” or “Tennis Court,” before heading over to the interactive bulletin board to share their all-time favorite tracks from Lorde’s discography.

In a nod to one of the most iconic moments in Lorde lore, the event also featured a hotly competitive onion ring contest (iykyk).

As the album played in full, attendees sipped on Shelf’s custom cocktail Virgin Blood, a dangerously drinkable blend of strawberry lemonade and vodka—and munched on snacks and pizza while soaking in the atmosphere.

Three lucky guests walked away with prizes from the Lorde merch store, including a vinyl of Virgin, a hat, and a limited-edition T-shirt. Everyone else walked away slightly tipsy and spiritually reborn. Lorde may not have been there in person, but her presence was felt in every lyric.

If Virgin is about rebirth, then consider Shelf’s listening party the baptism.
