Raymonte joins Shelf
ISSUE II | Shelf Introspect
Raymonte Cole is rewriting what it means to be real online
With his viral one-liners (“You ain’t wrong, queen” or “Your bob is fye!”) and effortlessly sharp sense of humor, Raymonte isn’t just riding the wave of gen Z culture—he’s shaping it. His content is equal parts comedy, commentary, and closet inspiration, but it’s his authenticity that keeps you coming back for more. Whether he’s gassing up strangers on the street or unpacking his love for JT’s City Cinderella and fantasy TV, Raymonte is always 100% himself. He’s not chasing fame or clout; he’s building a lane that’s rooted in joy, individuality, and of course "being a bad bitch.” Read along as he reveals some of the depth and self-awareness behind the persona, and as always, the different media that’s shaped him into the funniest person on our For You Page.

ShelfMAG: I feel like so much of your content is based around your personality and you just being yourself — “excuse me maam, i love your hair!” or “you know what i love more than one bad bitch? two!!” — as your platform continues to grow and more opportunities arise, what keeps you grounded in that? What’s your “why”?
@raymonte: I think my mom and having friends that I knew before fame keeps me normalized. And I don't seek friendship. You know how some people seek friendships and opportunities to climb the social ladder? I don't feel like I do that. I keep my life very normal. My friends are very authentic— we don't just sit and talk about fame and parties and being a socialite. We have regular conversations. Sometimes I kind of forget how known I am or how popular I am until I go outside. I don't go to a lot of influencer events, even though I'm trying to do more of that type of stuff. I really enjoy real life experiences, you know?
ShelfMAG: I can tell you when you came to the Shelf Launch party so many people were excited. But I love that you were dancing with everyone and part of the crowd and just there to have a good time with us.
@raymonte: I love blending in. I think that would surprise a lot of people. People probably think I like to be the center of attention, but that type of stuff happens naturally for me. I like amping other people up. I like other people having crazy, wild moments and I'm there cheering them on.
ShelfMAG: What's one thing you want your followers to know about you or your content?
@raymonte: I want people to know I'm a bad bitch, and I really enjoy being a bad bitch. If I don’t do nothing else, I just always wanna be a bad bitch.
ShelfMAG: What would you consider a red flag if you saw it on somebody else's Shelf?
@raymonte: Too many black trauma movies, like too many police brutality movies or like just heartbreaking stuff. I need you to have some happiness on your Shelf. I'm not just going to say black trauma—too many depressing movies, depressing songs, like a lot of that. First 48, Criminal Minds, Law & Order…like where's your happiness at?
ShelfMAG: Say you're about to crash out, what song are you playing to bring yourself back down to earth?
@raymonte: “I Bet” by Ciara

ShelfMAG: Oh that was fast!
@raymonte: Yes that is my JAM. “I bet you start loving me as soon as I start loving someone else.”
ShelfMAG: Clock it. Who was the last artist you changed your mind about, and what triggered the change—was it growth or was it a little bit of delusion?
@raymonte: I have to give a fake answer on this one. Yeah, I'm fake. I feel like I don't want to actually say it, because people get to dragging you when you say something. My answer is Nicki Minaj because I grew up such like a hard die-hard Barb, but I don't agree with all the decisions that she makes.
ShelfMAG: Is there like an album or a song that you feel like your friends associate with you?
@raymonte: I would say City Cinderella. Everyone says that's my album. I was so into it. I supported it so much. I loved the album. I went to the studio with JT before it came out. I was listening to all the songs, and I really, really love that album so much.

ShelfMAG: So that's one thing that I can always count on seeing on your Shelf?
@raymonte: Yes, you can always count on seeing something by JT on my Shelf. I love her and I love her music. Genuinely, that's my girl. I'm not a person that just because someone's my friend I'm going to act like I like their stuff, but I genuinely love her music.
ShelfMAG: Is there a line from a song, book, or movie that lives in your head rent free? Something that you like to quote back to people?
@raymonte: Oh, I love Norbit. And I like ATL. “The only thing different about me is my address. I didn't want you or anybody else judging me like you're judging me now.”

ShelfMAG: If your online persona had a warning label, or your TikTok had like a theme song, what would the label be or what would the song be?
@raymonte: The label would be “I really don't care what anybody else has to say. I only care about myself.” And the song would be Demi Lovato, “This Is Me” from Camp Rock.

ShelfMAG: Last question, if there's one item on your shelf that's most likely to stay there forever, what would it be and why?
@raymonte: This show has been the show of my life, all my life. It's called Charmed. Have you watched Charmed?

ShelfMAG: I haven't. That's on Netflix right?
@raymonte: That's the new Charmed. This is with Piper, Phoebe, Paige, and Prue. Holly Marie Combs…what's the other girl name? That's my favorite show of all time. As a kid, it really helped me get through a lot. My sexuality, my confidence, it made me realize—because I come from an urban community, and a lot of people don't like fantasy (you get yucked for not wanting to watch Baby Boy all the time)—it made me realize I can be different, and I can I like different things. It really helped me with my individuality, because my mom always was so gung-ho about me being whoever I want to be. I don't have to be like my older brother or my younger brother. And even when we had one TV that we had to all share, she always made sure that I got my hour. Y'all are going to sit and watch what he wants to watch as well, even if y'all don't, this is what he wants to watch and y'all are gonna watch it too. Charmed will always be on my Shelf.
