Let's talk about the Love Island USA Reunion...

Shelf RATED | TV

The Love Island USA Season Seven chapter has officially come to an end with last night’s reunion hosted by Ariana Madix and Andy Cohen. Islanders teased for weeks that they had things to address with the entire cast, and they did not disappoint.

Jeremiah finally got to address his love bombing accusations. He explained that, by definition, he did not love bomb Huda. Huda countered the definition by saying, it “can also be unintentional.” We also saw unseen footage of Nic, Taylor, and Ace’s decision to send Jeremiah home over Austin. In the footage, Nic disagreed with the decision but was outnumbered by Taylor and Ace. We finally got Ace to admit that he regrets evicting Jeremiah and that it should have been Austin who went home that night.

The highly anticipated extended cut of the heart rate challenge was also revealed. We finally saw exactly what Huda did to Ace that had the villa in an uproar. In sum, she licked his d*ck and put her butt in his face…yikes. While Chelley still feels that Huda crossed a line, Huda still can’t see that were it Chelley and Jeremiah, she would’ve been upset. When Andy asked her about it, Huda deflected the question, explaining that she didn’t get mad about other people dancing on Chris. Whoever PR trained Huda did their big one because she did not directly answer a single question all night.

Andy also asked Huda about her comments regarding “feeling bullied” in the villa. He called attention to the support that Chelley and Olandria both offered Huda during the show. Huda said she felt supported by them during the show, but saw clips once she left that made her feel bullied. This led to a conversation between Chelley and Olandria not feeling supported by Huda outside of the villa, despite them thinking that they were close friends.

This led to the biggest shock of the night–the reason Olandria and Chelley no longer follow Huda on Instagram. We learned that once Olandria and Chelley got their phones back, they were overwhelmed by racism and hate from Huda’s supporters. Olandria asked Huda to make a post addressing her followers saying she doesn’t condone hate and to stop sending it towards Olandria and Chelley, and Huda agreed. Days passed, and Huda never made the post (and still hasn’t), which led to Olandria and Chelley’s unfollowing. Huda mentioned the racism she received, but only in response to Olandria and Chelley’s racist experiences. The fact that Huda hasn’t made a post denouncing racism tells me she is not genuinely concerned about these Black women’s well-being–her alleged friends–and that is concerning.

I can honestly say I will miss tuning in every day to see this hot mess of a show. America has never felt so simultaneously united and divided. Since the country is a dumpster fire, it's only right that our reality shows reflect the same reality. In the end, Love Island USA may be a mess, but she’s our mess, and we are going to stick beside her.
