Jennie Bull joins Shelf
ISSUE II | Shelf Introspect
Today, ShelfMag is bringing the bold, the fearless, and unapologetically authentic energy of Jennie Bull—editor-in-chief and co-founder of the boundary-breaking Moody Magazine. Frustrated by the lack of transparency around sex positivity and self-love, Jennie set out to create a space where open conversations about intimacy and self-expression aren’t just welcomed—they’re celebrated. With a background in marketing and retail management, specializing in fashion and beauty communications, she’s on a mission to dismantle taboos and cultivate a judgment-free community. Inspired by the powerhouse women in her life, Jennie is proving that honesty, vulnerability, and a little bit of rebellion can change the conversation around sexuality for good. Be sure to grab the sixth edition of Moody when it drops on April 20th, and follow Jennie on Shelf for real-time updates into what she’s consuming!

ShelfMAG: If you could trade places with any fictional character who would it be and why?
@jenniebull: Probably Totoro, does that count? If I could be anything else, I wouldn't want to be a human. I would love to hang out with little magical creatures all day, riding in the cat bus, and flying around with my tiny umbrella. Totoro is so zen and level-headed, a compassionate friend. No work, no responsibilities, just cuteness and nature.

ShelfMAG: What album do you associate with your adolescence?
@jenniebull: I would say GO:OD AM by Mac Miller, it was actually my second tattoo I ever got. I would ALWAYS have that album on repeat, and have a particular affinity towards track 11 Perfect Circle / God Speed. During this time, I was also obsessed with Ariana Grande and Mac Miller's relationships (my lockscreen for a year was their Moonrise Kingdom couples costume -- swoon!).

ShelfMAG: What song would wake you up if you were in a coma?
@jenniebull: Suffocation by Crystal Castles. I could literally hear the first chord and rise up all Nosferatu-style. Alice Glass's voice is hypnotizing on this, I don't know whether to rave or cry.

ShelfMAG: What movie always makes you cry without fail?
@jenniebull: This is a hard one, because so many movies make me cry lol (can you tell that I'm a Cancer?) and I will unapologetically ugly cry in public, I don't care. But I would say my go-to cry movie is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and an honorable mention for Candy (2006). My heart shudders just thinking about them both.

ShelfMAG: The item on your shelf most likely to stay there forever?
@jenniebull: Probably my current book - I am such a slow reader when it comes to making time to read - even though I am such a bibliophile.
