Gen V Season 2? Steven says 4/5

Shelf RATED | TV

With episode four dropping tomorrow, let’s rewind and talk about the first three episodes of Gen V season two. They’ve already set the tone for what looks like a chaotic, bloody, and very fun ride.

The world of The Boys has always fascinated me because, honestly, it feels like the most accurate representation of what would actually happen if superheroes existed in our country. They wouldn’t be noble protectors—they’d be corporate-owned celebrities with PR teams, sponsorships, and egos bigger than their powers. And Gen V takes that premise and drops it into a college campus, which is just genius. It’s like superhero satire but through the messiest, most hormonal lens possible.

I was hyped for this season the second season one ended, and the show hasn’t let up. The new addition of Cipher (Hamish Linklater) as the dean of God U is maybe the creepiest twist so far. He’s calm, calculated, and just unnerving to watch. And the fact that we still don’t know his powers or true intentions makes it even scarier. Every time he’s on screen, I get this pit in my stomach like something really sinister is coming.

The show also handled Chance Perdomo’s sudden passing with care and respect. It could’ve been messy or rushed, but instead it felt thoughtful and genuine. Fitting for how beloved he was, both by fans and within the show itself.

If the first three episodes are anything to go by, season 2 is only going to get wilder. Between the satire, the shocking moments, and the looming mysteries, I’m fully strapped in for the chaos.
