Charli XCX in Brooklyn Night One

Shelf ON THE TOWN

Surreal doesn’t even begin to cover it. Seeing Charli XCX storm the stage at Barclays Center for night one of her four-night Brooklyn reign felt like watching a pop star complete her final evolution, and drag us all with her. From $30 general admission at tiny venues to $350 wristbands for the arena pit? Yeah… she’s that girl now.

Atlantic Records slid us GA tickets (shoutout) and somehow my friend and I ended up right at the barricade. Like, hands on the rail, eye contact moments, sweating and screaming — no zoom necessary.

And the show? 90 minutes of pure, unrelenting Charli chaos. No dancers. No crazy visuals. No choreo. Just her. And yet somehow, it felt bigger than any overproduced arena tour. Charli owns the stage. She doesn’t need distractions , she is the distraction. Every stomp, scream, and bratty head toss kept us locked in like we were at the world’s biggest club. Honestly, that’s what this felt like. Not a concert — a rave. A packed, sweaty, euphoric night out with your most unhinged friends and one very expensive sound system.

What makes this BRAT run so genius is that she knows she’s overstaying her welcome — and she loves it. As she said on TikTok, she’s in her staying too long era. This is technically the third time she’s toured BRAT. At this point, it’s less about promotion and more about milking the moment until it’s bone dry. That’s popstar behavior.

And because Charli can’t help but be a little menace, she ended the night with a tease. A flag dropped showing what looked like a new record cover (👀), and if I had to bet, I’d say PARTYGIRL is coming to streaming sooner than we think. But who knows? Charli’s always ten steps ahead while the rest of us are still fumbling with the club wristband.
